Miami has over 90 high-rises under construction, double the entire state of California!

Miami currently boasts 90 high-rise buildings under construction, more than double the number in all of California. This data comes from a Reddit user's analysis of buildings over 10 stories tall.

Miami's construction boom ranks second only to New York in the U.S. Across the entire state of Florida, there are 132 high-rises underway.

  • Miami's Boom: Miami's prominence in high-rise construction is undeniable, surpassing the entire state of California. This could be attributed to factors like a growing population, a thriving real estate market, and a focus on luxury development.

  • Urban Centers Lead: Major urban centers like New York City, Toronto, Vancouver, and Miami dominate in terms of absolute numbers, reflecting their ongoing vertical growth and economic significance.

  • Smaller Cities Shine: Smaller cities like Halifax, Pittsburgh, and Salt Lake City exhibit a surprisingly high rate of construction per capita, indicating localized growth spurts and potential economic development opportunities.

  • Regional Disparities: The map reveals significant regional differences, with the East Coast and parts of Canada showing more activity than the West Coast. This could be due to varying economic conditions, land availability, and population trends.

  • Per Capita Analysis: While some cities boast impressive overall numbers, a per capita analysis provides a more nuanced view. It reveals that smaller cities often have a higher rate of construction relative to their population size, suggesting different development patterns and growth trajectories.
